Week of 4/2 to 4/5...

Dear Parents,
Welcome back! I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter break! My family and I went to Alabama as we have for many years, and although it was very difficult to leave the 78 degree weather, it was also nice to get home! Here are the plans for the week...

Reading - We are beginning a new novel entitled: "Turtle in Paradise". This book  is about a young girl living during the depression that must move to Florida to  live with family that she has never met. Her mother has taken a housekeeping job for a woman that does not like children, so she is not allowed to be there. This novel not only introduces Florida and ocean life to the reader, but also what it is like to move to a new place and "come out of your shell". We will have vocabulary, as well as comprehension work from this novel.

English - Chapter 5...only sentence and vocab work this week.

Spelling - Words from Science. Pre-test Thursday, test Friday.

Religion - We have been skipping around between Advent and Lent, and now are back  on track with chapter 17, The Sixth Commandment, Thou Shall Not Commit Adultery. No test this week.

S. Studies - Chapter 8 Test Friday!

Math - We will be finishing up chapter 1, Place Value, this week.

Science - We are beginning a lesson on Soil. I hope to plant seeds on Friday.

VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION...
*****Our auction project in 4th grade is to create a picture book depicting the
Stations of the Cross. Last year at this time, all of the trees and flowers were in bloom, which gave a beautiful backdrop to our pictures. You can see where I'm going with this!!! That being said,I am going to go ahead and start taking pictures this week. We have a large trunk of costumes for the kids, but if you have any saint costumes at home, we could really use them. Most of the boys are soldiers so anything you think we could use would be great. Please label anything you send in!

Thanks so much!!
